100 sq m. One-hundredth of a hectare.
The are (pronounced like “air”, एयर) is the metric unit Rajasthan’s land records use with the hectare: one are is 100 square metres and 100 ares make one hectare, so an area of 0.35 hectare is 35 ares. Buyers and sellers in the belt still talk in bighas, and the size of a bigha differs from district to district, so convert a recorded area with the value for that district rather than one figure for the whole state.
